A small newspaper in Central Utah with high journalistic standards is looking for someone with exceptional writing and editing skills to edit and in many cases rewrite copy that needs some help.
This is a parttime job hours per week that can be done remotely.
We prefer someone who lives in Utah but Utah residence is not required.
What does the job entail Sometimes the author of the copy you would be editing does not fully understand what he or she is writing about.
That means you have to call the city manager the mayor the police chief or other source to get a clear understanding.
Then you need to rewrite the story to make it accurate and clear.
Other times there are multiple paragraphs within a story that are completely unclear and you need to unravel and restate them in straightforward fashion.
Ideal for a retired journalist or a journalist who has been laid off a stayathome mom with previous professional experience in journalism public relations or technical writing someone who has taught writing at the college level or anyone who has high confidence in his or her expository writing ability.
Whatever your background you will need a decent grasp of news topics especially public policy and a lot of common sense.
College degree and knowledge of AP style highly desirable.
Pay negotiable but commensurate with the skill required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
