This position is located in the Intermountain Region (R4), Manti-LaSal National Forest , Sanpete Ranger District located in Ephraim, Utah. The primary responsibility of this position is to perform timber sale preparation duties that include timber marking, timber cruising, sale layout, and providing leadership to a small team of employees who are part of the timber organization on the Forest.

Permanent Seasonal: The Incumbent will be guaranteed 13 pay periods of full-time work. However, there may be a possibility to work more. You will then be placed in non-pay/non-duty status for the remainder of the year.

Independently estimates volume, defect, and quality of timber in a given area. Selects and marks trees to be harvested or left uncut. Traverses harvest unit boundaries, road locations, and determines area. Prepares area maps and marks boundaries. Summarizes cruising and marking data and prepares reports. Serves as a Qualified Timber cruiser performing routine timber cruises and surveys to determine quantity of timbe. May lead a small crew of 2-3 temporary employees in timber sale layout.

GS-05: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least a GS-04 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as: Performing crew based forestry related support work such as selecting and marking individual trees for harvest using well defined marking guidelines, silviculture prescriptions, and specific instruction and/or assisting in the measurement of limiting distances, tree diameter, tree height, estimation of defect and quality, and related fundamental timber cruising procedures.-OR
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor''s degree (a) with major study in forestry, range management, agriculture, or a subject-matter field directly related to the position, or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as forestry, agriculture, crop or plant science, range management or conservation, wildlife management, watershed management, soil science, natural resources (except marine fisheries and oceanography), outdoor recreation management, civil or forest engineering, or wildland fire science. No more than 6 semester hours in mathematics is creditable. -OR
A combination of education and experience listed above.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
